As you may be aware, in an effort to respond to the privacy
concerns of Canadians, the federal government enacted
the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Document
Act (“PIPEDA”). The purpose of PIPEDA, in
general terms, is to regulate the private sector’s
collection, use and disclosure of personal information.
As of January 1st 2004, PIPEDA will be
in force. Dixie Ford Sales is committed to protecting
your privacy in the process of the collection, use and
disclosure of your personal information. To assist us
in keeping this commitment we ask that you read and carefully
consider the following.
As a result of your purchase/lease/finance
of a vehicle; as a result of service or repair to your
vehicle; as a result of the purchase or lease of some
other product or service; as a result of your participation
in one of our surveys, contests or promotions; if you
have test driven one of our vehicles or contacted our
dealership staff, Dixie Ford Sales Ltd will collect personal
information about you that we received:
- on the application or other forms you provided to
us,
- information from any other transaction with us or
- from a consumer reporting agency.
We may use your personal information
to provide services to you and/or communicate with you,
including marketing and follow-up communication.
In order to carry out the foregoing,
we may disclose your personal information to:
- our computing and marketing service providers, such
as ADP Canada Co.
- financial service providers that may bid on/provide
financing for your motor vehicle
- motor vehicle manufacturers with who we have a franchise
agreement and
- others as may be specifically allowed by applicable
law
